My boss at work just bought a honda fit....he figured out he could park is v8 dodge, buy the fit, make the car payments, pay the insurance on it, put gas in it and still have $100 left over! I think we will all be driving Hydrogen Fuel cell vehicles in the future.

Brian Harrisons last blog post..Six Flags Monday!

Re: Jim Carey reminds us about how cheap gas used to be

@MTAE - Fire Marshall Bill was hilarious! Just look at the scene in Me, Myself, and Irene where he is practically beating himself up. It's amazing!

But yeah, I remember gas shortages a few years back. Scary stuff!

Re: Jim Carey reminds us about how cheap gas used to be

"That was about the end of Jim Carey being funny!"

Was he ever funny? I didn't even think he was funny as Fireman Bill....but that's me and not what the blog post is about.

Gas prices: your right Adam; those were the days. I remember in the seventies when they had the fuel shortage thing and we would wait in long lines for gas. Gas was dirt cheap compared to now. If my mother still owned that huge, hulking Thunderbird nowadays, she would have to take out a small home-equity loan just to fill it up. :)

scotties last blog post..Life’s smiley face moments….

Re: Jim Carey reminds us about how cheap gas used to be

Yep 1995. Parts of Europe pay around $8 a gallon. That being said, a 275% increase is a pretty big one!

Re: Jim Carey reminds us about how cheap gas used to be

I remember high school (late 90's) when gas was under $1 for a while. Still, I remind people that with inflation, gas could be MUCH more expensive than it is now. And decades ago when it was just a few dollars cheaper, car were much less fuel efficient too. We've taken gas for granted for a long time now.
