Why is it So Hard to Wake Up in the Morning?

Started by adamriggins · 5 months ago

Picture the scenario:
You hear this noise.  It’s the most annoying noise you have ever heard, yet all it is is a song playing on the radio.  You start to recognize the song, but quickly go back to being quite annoyed.  You have just been pulled out of a deep sle ... Continue reading »

  • reading you blog, I kinda get that idea.
  • It's because they haven't invented an affordable way for me to drink coffee before I wake up.
  • You mean like an intraveineous coffee drip? I guess that would be kind of pricey.
  • setting the alarm 15 minutes earlier?? my brain will be perfectly aware that i set it 15 minutes earlier and that will mean 15 more minutes to sleep! i think it will be much better to have someone pull you out of bed.. what do you think?

  • I dunno. For me, I don't think my brain would know the difference if it was only 15 minutes earlier. Early is early in my book.
  • I've never really had a problem waking up, I think I'm generally a morning person. When I was a kid and my mom would come in to wake me up for school I'd jolt out of bed and shock my body into being awake quickly. I think the worst thing you can do is hit snooze, that can't possibly help any.

  • I seem to sometimes hit "off" when I really mean to hit "snooze". The boss will only buy that so many times.
  • I HATE the sound of repetitive noises so more often than not I'll wake up before my alarm goes off...I also go crazy when people don't answer their phone after a couple of rings. I get up pretty early and generally do so without too much trouble. The problem for me hits about 2 in the afternoon and I'm ready for a nap. And of course I oversleep on the weekends. It's a vicious cycle.

  • there really is nothing as annoying as the alarm going off bringing you out of a sleep. I've started waking up earlier than the alarm too, I guess because my mind hates it so much!
  • I am definitely one of those people whose natural body clock is set for staying up late and sleeping late. It makes things like school or work tough sometimes!
